Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School is Hiring a 1st Grade Elementary Teacher Near Worcester, MA

Job DescriptionWorcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School seeks a talented 51st grade elementary school teacher for the 2024- 2025 school year.
We are looking for culturally competent candidates who possess experience working as educators in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with IEPs. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with other staff, families, and students as a founding teacher at an innovative charter public school in the city of Worcester. We welcome candidates who reflect the cultural diversity of the Worcester community.
Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School opened August 2023 and is chartered for grades K-4. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that focuses on three levels of student achievement: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. What better way to teach than through experiences with our cultural partners? To name a few we partner with EcoTarium, Worcester Art Museum and Hanover Theater.
ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Use teaching methods that engage all students in critical thinking, ownership, discovery, curiosity, and joy throughout the lesson. Plan and deliver effective lessons with a student centered approach
  • Set expectations for all students while understanding that students may take different pathways to reach. Adjust and differentiate curriculum accordingly to meet needs of the students using culturally responsive teaching practices. Teach intervention lessons to students who need additional support
  • Regularly and proactively communicate with families and show commitment to seek out perspective across a range of identities and respond appropriately
  • Model and demonstrate a strong commitment to the schools vision, WCA as an anti-racist school, student empowerment, and a “whatever it takes” spirit to ensure each student is successful
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Elementary Certification (1-6) or must possess subject matter MTEL.
  • Massachusetts Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher Endorsement
  • Passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.
  • Decisive educator who can make difficult decisions taking into consideration the needs of students and the school community
  • Persistence in the face of obstacles, productive problem-solving to counter setbacks, and takes initiative to seize opportunities to make a change
Compensation: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

At Worcester Cultural Academy, our faculty and staff collaborate and support one another and our students through a number of school-wide activities, events and celebrations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and participate in these events, ranging from student and family orientation activities to celebrations of learning to graduation. We work together to support the safe and happy arrival and dismissal of our students, collaborate and plan together and use data to guide decision-making.
