Job Description
Our busy facility is currently looking for a Charge Nurse to oversee the day-to-day operations of the surgery department. A successful candidate will need to have extensive knowledge of surgery and ophthalmology and will work closely with the team to complete lists of important tasks that keep the department running smoothly. The Charge Nurse must be able to communicate well with both patients and peers, work under pressure and make quick decisions, while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Requirements:Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and assign work to registered nurses and other staff.
- Monitor patient care by following up on physician's orders. Check results of diagnostic procedures to determine the extent of patient's problems and anticipate need for further testing and/or treatment.
- Prepare equipment and assist physician during surgery.
- Review patient status at end of surgery.
- Keep charge nurse informed of patient progress.
- Consult with physician concerning plan of care., Administer medications as prescribed, monitor patient response, and report medication-related problems to physicians.
