Lead Teacher, Primary School
The Woodward Academy Primary School offers students an engaging environment for learning! The whole child is developed through academics, the arts, character education, and physical fitness. Specific Duties Include:
Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
Prompt and regular attendance.
Develop and share weekly lesson plans for classroom instruction to be supported by the associate teacher.
Update Seesaw and Veracross pages as directed by the administration
Monitor student success with various assessments ( I-Ready, DRA, etc.) regularly.
Provide high-quality instruction in all subject areas using a workshop model approach to learning.
Collaborate with the associate teacher positively and effectively by having at least one weekly planning meeting.
Coordinate with the administrative assistant to secure a substitute teacher and leave substitute plans for planned absences.
Grade and assess student projects and assignments.
Participate in professional development.
Answer parent emails regarding behavior and academic progress.
Actively participate in grade-level meetings, staff meetings, Key Team meetings, and Late Start day activities.
Provide a warm and solution-focused environment when facilitating parent meetings and conferences.
Other duties as assigned by administration.
Required Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy
A strong understanding of Workshop Model teaching is preferred
Strong organizational and classroom management skills
A willingness and ability to assist in extracurricular activities is preferred
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; master’s degree in Elementary Education preferred
3 years of successful teaching experience at the Elementary level preferred
Independent school experience preferred, but not required
The Lead Teacher, Primary School position is a salaried, ten-month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits are substantial. EOE
