About Woodstock Sustainable Kitchen:

Woodstock Sustainable Kitchen is a small kitchen with a big passion for sustainable food. We serve sandwiches, pretzels and other scratch-made dishes out of our dedicated kitchen inside of Taylor Brooke Brewery in Woodstock, CT every Thursday and select Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We operate on a sustainability-first model, serving delicious, health-conscious food made with local, seasonal ingredients with a special focus on meat minimalism. Everything that goes into our dishes is prepared in-house, from growing our some of our produce at Taylor Brooke Farms, to baking bread and slicing locally sourced meats. We opened our doors in the fall of 2023 and are ramping up for our first busy season this summer. The ideal candidate has an interest in learning more about our food system and sustainability, and in acquiring kitchen skills, particularly if they have an interest in a future career in the culinary arts. We are passionate about making food that is good for people and our planet, and if you are too, regardless of skill level or experience, we want to hear from you!

Job Description: Seasonal part-time hourly position starting June 6th and running until at least August 31st (with potential to extend throughout the fall). Since this will be our first busy season we're not sure yet exactly how much help we will need, so this position is ideal for someone who is flexible on hours and wants to make some extra money this summer but wont be reliant on it.

Job Responsibilities: Will vary based on needs but can include all of the following:

• Take customer orders
• Deliver orders to tables
• Assemble sandwiches and sides
• Assist during prep as needed
• General cleaning(sweeping, moping, dishes, sanitize surfaces, etc)

Skills & Experience: The only requirement is a desire to learn about cooking with seasonal local ingredients and a passion for sustainability. The preferred applicant will be at least 18 years of age, but those that are 16 or 17 will be considered.

Hours and Compensation:

This position starts at $15/hr plus tips (guaranteed minimum $22/hr after tips). The average week can be expected to be at least 10 hours with the potential for more if help is needed for prep. The minimum scheduled will be every Thursday from 3pm to 8pm and a second service day on either Friday (3pm-8pm), Saturday (noon-7pm) or Sunday (12pm-6pm) each week. We have our schedule for the summer set already and can provide that if necessary.

Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 10 per week
