Woodstock School District 200 is Hiring a Job Coach Near Woodstock, IL

This is a part-time position for the 2023-2024 school year. 6.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, 9 months per year, minimum of $16.50 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. : Bachelor’s degree preferred; in lieu of bachelor’s degree, combination of educational background (min. of high school diploma) and related work experience as may be appropriate to achieving job goals. Previous experience working with students with disabilities (preferably at the high school level) and/or previous community work experiences highly desirable.

: Must possess valid IL driver’s license and proof of insurability. Must have own vehicle.

: Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with students and other staff and to promote positive program experiences.

: Ability to read, write, interpret and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to staff, parents, students and administrators.

: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally the employee is required to lift/or move a minimum of 50 pounds. The employee will assist students into and out of vehicles; such assistance may include lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.

The work environment will be varied, as the employee will be introducing the students to a variety of transitional life experiences.

TITLE: JOB COACH

: References must be provided.

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator, Special Ed. Administrator, Employment Coach

JOB GOAL: To provide assistance to Special Ed. teacher(s) in all aspects of the Transition Program. Will be responsible for training students on community job sites and for providing intense support in these experiences. May be responsible for transporting students to and from the job site on occasion.

CONDITIONS Nine month position with salary and working conditions in compliance

OF EMPLOYMENT: with the Agreement between the Woodstock School Related Personnel,

Local 1642, IFT/AFT, and the WoodstockCUSD #200 Board of Education. (Employee will need to be able to accommodate flexible scheduling of hours, as the work day may fluctuate based on program and work experience schedules.)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works with individual students or small groups of students, under the supervision of the special education certified staff member, as assigned.

2. Trains students on specific tasks as directed by certified staff; helps determine when students are ready to advance to higher skill level or to receive additional tasks.

3. Trains students on the job site, using best practices and task analysis, with emphasis on job safety.

4. Assists in coordination and scheduling of all community and employment experiences, under the supervision of certified staff.

5. Conducts mock interviews with students to assist them in preparing for actual job interviews.

6. Collects all necessary forms and identification from students prior to job interview/hire.

7. Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with host businesses.

8. Serves as a community liaison, answering questions posed by the public in a professional yet confidential manner, as appropriate.

9. Monitors and records student behavior, cooperation and overall performance. Submits written reports documenting these behaviors as per schedule designed by the certified staff.

10. Trains students on community safety issues (i.e. – crossing streets, not speaking to strangers, etc.)

11. Implements training program (designed by certified staff) for students re: appropriate behaviors needed for community skills.

12. Encourages development of student problem-solving skills related to work site experiences.

13. Implements training (designed by certified staff) for students on procedures to follow when transportation fails to arrive or is late. (i.e. – taxis, PACE bus, etc.)

14. Maintains consistency with teacher and/or coordinator for program implementation, and shares ideas for improving the program.

15. Assists in record-keeping and program material preparation.

16. Learns and uses computer applications pertinent to the Transition Program.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.50 - $16.51 per hour

Expected hours: 32.5 per week
