Woodridge Local School District is Hiring a (3) Title I Small Group Instructors (Part-time 5.8 hrs.) Near Peninsula, OH
(1) Title I Small Group Instructor positions available at Woodridge Middle School and (2) at Faith Islamic Academy. The positions are part-time (5.8 hrs.) for the 2023-2024 school year. Current/valid teaching license required. Reading Endorsement Preferred. No benefits. Middle CH Certification (4-9), Language Arts,, Reading Position: Title I Small Group Instructor Reports to: Building Principal Employment Status: Part-time (5.8) hrs. Description: Plan, develop, schedule and implement the remedial reading (and sometimes remedial math) educational program for students identified with such needs; evaluate and revise the programs as appropriate; actively involved in student, colleague and parent communications and relations

Essential Functions: • Promote safety of students • Teach and evaluate the students using sound instructional practices • Effectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a good learning environment • Maintain accurate records as required • Take necessary precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student grades • Attend meetings and in-services per contract • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents and staff • Instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated • Refer students with suspected disabilities according to building/district protocol • Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined in the courses of study which have been approved by the Board of Education • Assist in identifying students who qualify for services • Provide appropriate intervention for qualifying students • Communicate and work closely with the regular classroom teachers while developing each student's intervention program • Work with students individually, in small groups, and/or in co-taught classrooms • Assist students with their tasks; read to students; conduct activities that work to maintain previous teaching • Assist students with programmed materials • Promote good social relationships between students • Assist in the administration of standardized assessments (for example, DIBELS)
Other Duties and Responsibilities: • Participate in intervention assistance team meetings • Respond to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate manner • Interact with other departments and school personnel when necessary • Refer attendance, health, academic and psychological emotional concerns or problems to Principal and/or Guidance Counselor • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee as appropriate to the job title
Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university • Appropriate State of Ohio teaching certifications/license • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology • Ability to work effectively with others • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing • Effective, active listening skills • Organizational and problem solving skills • General computer skills
