We are currently searching for a Communications Strategist I to support our Marketing Team. The Communications Strategist I assists with the direction, development and implementation of WoodmenLife’s communication materials and programs within the context of Associate (both Sales and Home Office) communication and Operations (day-to-day) communication. Assists with serving as the organization’s voice in corporate social media and other digital channels.

What we are looking for:- Works independently and as part of a team, consulting with internal units, Sales and subsidiaries on communications and development and implementation of tools and programs that support organizational goals and initiatives.
- Contributes to the execution of the strategic direction as determined by team leaders.
- Supports Content Strategist by gathering needed information, assigning stories, working with freelancers and writing articles as needed.
- Supports digital content strategy by working with team members to build content, research optimization techniques and keywords and provide metrics as requested.
- Assists with internal communications, including proofing and editing submissions for the organization’s daily internal e-newsletter and assisting with quarterly all-associate meetings.
- Works with other team members to develop social media content for sales, corporate and community outreach channels.
- Makes contributions to improving practices and shaping strategy by monitoring trends in social media tools and applications and applying knowledge by integrating techniques into organization.
- Writes, gains appropriate approvals and distributes press releases and media alerts as assigned.
What do you bring:- Bachelor’s degree in related field (Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, etc.) and/or a minimum of two years related experience.
- Knowledge of media/public relations practices, communication theory, business requirements, and media event coordination.
- Demonstrated/documented experience in social media strategy and post development, preferably in a business or professional setting.
- Strong organizational, writing and editing skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to edit and proofread documents with working knowledge of AP style rules.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and oral; Writing samples will be requested.
