Join our dedicated team as our new Baker / Pastry Assistant in the heart of Portland, downtown at Woodlark Hotel! Our pastry team bakes pastries for the Good Coffee Shop and provide bread and desserts for our restaurants including Bullard Tavern and Abigail Hall, along with the on-site events program.
We are offering the following:
● Part Time (20-24 hours / week), opportunity to grow into full time
● Competitive Compensation: $19.00 - $21.00 / hour tips, depending on experience

Our team members play a vital role in ensuring satisfaction of our guests! The Baker / Pastry Assistant includes a wide range of baking techniques including mixing cookies and breads as well as making ice cream, sauces, fillings and daily pies. We make everything in-house and change menus seasonally.
What you’ll do:
· Bake pastries for the coffee shop and high tea before service starts each morning.
· Take inventory of the station and create a prep list for the day.
· Add to the prep list as items get low.
· Ensure the quality of desserts and components meet the standards of the restaurant.
· Stock and organize the dessert station with all components needed each day.
· Work with the Pastry Chef to create new seasonal items and specials.
· Production of dessert and pastry components.
What we require:
· 1 year of baking experience.
· High School diploma or higher.
· Able to work early mornings and weekends.
· Self-motivated and able to multi-task.
· Reliable & punctual attendance.
· Ability to work well with all levels of management, executive leadership and support staff.
· Energetic, charismatic professional with excellent verbal communication skills.
· Communicate effectively with the kitchen team, restaurant management and Front of House staff.
· Complete projects when assigned.
· Perform duties calmly and effectively under pressure.
· Comprehensive understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
· Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
· Familiar with industry standards.
· Work safely with knives and all kitchen equipment.
· Keep station organized, practicing FIFO, and maintaining food safety practices throughout shift.
· Ability to work productively as a team or independently.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The typical environment is a busy hotel with variable room temperatures, sufficient lighting, and common office equipment. ● Standing continuously during your shift.
● Lift/carry 10lbs (frequently) and up to 25lbs (occasionally).
● Bend, squat, crawl and reach above shoulder level.
● Use of dominant hand for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.
● Expose to variable temperatures, dust, dampness, height, and moving machinery.
