Woodland Plastics Corp. is Hiring a 3rd Shift (11:00 pm to 7:15 am) Quality Technician Near Addison, IL

Job Description:

Summary/Objective
The quality technician position inspects materials and processes, analyzing for continuous quality improvement.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. First piece, last piece, and 4 hour inspections
  • Inspect product at start up, every 4 hours and shut down for a variety of qualities such as acceptable appearance, dimension and performance.
  • Identify non-conforming product and initiate non-conforming reports/documentation according to procedures.
  • Disposition non-conforming material.
2. Process audits
  • Performs process audits including verification of machine parameters, materials, and operator performance according to written work instructions.
3. Process sign off
  • Inspect/verify product in between stages of production.
4. Hourly walkthrough
  • Visual inspection of work areas for compliance.
5. Incoming inspection
  • Inspect received material for a variety of qualities such as acceptable appearance, dimension and performance.
  • Identify non-conforming product and initiate non-conforming reports/documentation according to procedures.
  • Disposition non-conforming material.
6. Analyze scrap and reporting
  • Analyze and report shift scrap to Quality Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with others regarding quality related issues, verbally and via email.
7. Hold area
  • Maintain hold area and quality lab in a clean and organized manner.
8. Miscellaneous
  • Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety and efficiency of employees.
Assist Quality, Engineering and Production personnel with any quality related issues.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications for Hire
1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish (written/orally)
3. Ability to perform basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and unit conversions)
4. Comfortable using basic computer software (Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word)
Preferred Qualifications (On the job training provided)
1. Familiarity with basic inspection equipment (Caliper, Micrometer).
2. Able to read blueprints and understand basic tolerances.
3. Knowledge of molded parts and common defects.
4. Knowledge of all applicable quality standards.
5. Knowledge of general safety best practices.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Some of the work will be performed in manufacturing facility where the noise level may be loud.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must also be able to climb stairs and ladders and may be required to lift up to 55 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Hours of work are dependent on the assigned shift. Overtime as required.
1st Shift: 7:00am to 3:15pm
2nd Shift: 3:00pm to 11:15 pm
3rd Shift: 11:00pm to 7:15 am
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
