    Position Title: Wildcat Summer Adventures Teacher (Grade K, 1, or 2) (Multiple Positions Available)

    Description: Provide enrichment and instructional support to students in grades K-8 in a summer school setting

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    License/Certification: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License or Illinois Substitute Teacher License
    Education: Required - Bachelor's Degree
    Experience - Required - Teaching, student teaching, or substitute teaching experience - Preferred - Teaching, student teaching, or substitute teaching experience in an elementary school setting

    ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Effectively implements the District #50 curriculum and has command of subject content.
    • Plans a differentiated program of study which meets individual needs and interests of students. Adjusts lessons when appropriate.
    • Uses a variety of instructional techniques based on best practices.
    • Prepares lesson plans that include clear objectives, materials used, and methods.
    • Presents curriculum which supports district and state goals objectives and standards.
    • Uses a variety of assessment strategies and provides progress reports as required.
    • Utilizes pre and post assessments on a regular basis to adjust instruction to meet student needs.
    • Maintains accurate records.
    • Sets and enforces reasonable rules and procedures that are fair and consistent.
    • Presents a safe and orderly classroom which is conducive to learning.
    • Supports the district-wide program of respect and responsibility.
    • Conducts class in assigned locations at scheduled times.
    • Cooperates with other members of staff to meet the needs of all students.
    • Attends and participates in building meetings and serves on committees as necessary.
    • Contributes to a positive building climate through support of the District Strategic Plan.
    • Regularly and consistently communicates with parents through a variety of media.
    • Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the summer school director
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Planning and Preparation - Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy, students, and resources. Design coherent instruction and select appropriate instructional activities, and has the ability to assess students learning.
    • Classroom Environment - Creates an environment of respect and report, establishes a culture for learning, manages classroom procedures, manages students behavior, and has the ability to organize physical space.
    • Instruction - Communicates clearly and accurately, uses questioning and discussion techniques, engages students in learning, provides feedback to students, and demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
    • Professional Responsibility - Reflects on teaching, maintains accurate records, communicates professionally, contributes to the school and district, grows and develops professionally, and shows professionalism.

    Technical: Competent in digital environments; iPads, databases, spreadsheets, publishing software, Microsoft Office, Google applications etc.

    Interpersonal: Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills. Empathetic, humanistic and open-minded. Strong sense of teamwork. Strategic thinker. Must be able to work harmoniously with the community, students, parents, staff, and administration, etc. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. Must exhibit sound judgment in dealing with people.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Working Conditions: Some exposure to definitely disagreeable elements may exist.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: June 10, 2024 - July 3, 2024; Monday thru Friday; 8:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

    SALARY RANGE: $47.53 per hour
