Position Summary:

The Moulder Operator oversees moulder operations. He/she is tasked with effectively and competently operating moulders used to manufacture millwork products. The target is to operate the moulders as efficiently as possible with minimal scrap/defects. Maintaining exceedingly tight tolerances and being able to make quick and accurate adjustments are essential. Working with other team members, both upstream and downstream, to maximize output and reduce downtime is the essence of this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be the expert in keeping the moulder operating as efficiently as possible
• Monitor upstream and downstream parts to ensure they are within specification and effectively communicate with others to work out solutions for off-grade parts
• Collect and record processing data and ensure operating equipment is within the optimal settings; must be able to operate within very strict parameters and follow documented settings
• Observe other activities on the line and work/communicate with other team members to reduce downtime and improve output
• Quick and efficient moulder setup to reduce downtime during changeovers
• Operate with a sense of urgency and pride in fulfilling all job functions
• An aspiration for continuous process improvements and striving for operational excellence
• Carry out documented plans and principles of lean manufacturing and standards consistent with 5S
• Monitor quality and understand how to resolve various types of defects

Physical Demands:

• Lifting product and/or equipment that weigh up to 40 lbs on a frequent basis
• Regularly required to use hands/fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and hear or talk.
• Regular bending, stooping, stretching, twisting and turning.
• Frequently required to stand, walk and sit.
• Requires close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

• Can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
• Work is performed on concrete floors for duration of shift
• Hazards to be aware of: working around operating machinery and hot zones.
• Exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Noise level is usually moderate.
