Woodgrain is Hiring a General Operator Near Emmett, ID

The Sawmill Operator works in the fast-paced, automated sawmill positions and will be in charge of running and maintaining the edger, trimmer, resaw, sorter/stacker, stacker outfeed, small or large debarker equipment as assigned. Successful candidates will be good team members and hard workers. All Woodgrain employees will be expected to exemplify our core values and put Safety Above All.

The Planer Operator-Stacker/Pull chain/Breakdown hoist works in a fast-paced, automated sawmill. This individual is in charge of running and maintaining equipment as assigned. This position works in a team setting and is expected to work with the entire team to achieve department goals. All Woodgrain employees are expected to exemplify Woodgrain’s core values and put Safety Above All.


Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Expectations and Performance Measures
What measures or metrics will the individual be measured on and what level of performance is required?Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitor equipment and lumber flow for issues that would interrupt production.
  • Work with maintenance personnel to perform light preventative maintenance.
  • Responsible for Operation/Maintenance and cleanliness over assigned equipment.
  • Cross train and assist the team in operating other machine centers when necessary.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Education and Continuous Training

Education/Experience/Certification

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required
  • 1 year of experience working in manufacturing is required
  • Sawmill Planer experience is a plus but not required
  • Any combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience

  • Ability to learn computer systems
  • Must be able to meet physical demands and work environment.
