OVERVIEW

The Creative Arts Pastor is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the Creative and Technical Arts ministries by developing and setting the culture of worship and driving the development and execution of services. This role requires strong organizational and leadership abilities both on and off stage as this individual will lead through vision casting, providing direction and shepherding of staff and volunteers. This role must be experienced in leading worship and have experience and appreciation for both traditional as well as modern styles of worship through music.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set an example of living a personal life of worship and prayer and being sensitive to the Sprit’s leading for services while staying rooted in the Word
• This is a high responsibility, high visibility role. It is essential to proactively invest in continual personal growth, self-awareness, self-care, integrity, and guard against personal vulnerabilities
• Provide vision, leadership and management to the Creative Arts team including hiring, goal setting, project management, budget setting and management, ministry infrastructure development
• Create and lead the processes of planning, preparing, and executing reliably excellent, and strategically aligned weekend services. This includes:
  1. Partnering with the Senior and/or Teaching Pastor on message series planning
  2. Leading teams to develop the creative package for sermon series (graphic design, bumper videos, etc.) in collaboration with Communications teams
  3. Oversee all programming and production. Ensure that all musical and technical aspects of the service advance the mission by partnering with teams to oversee compelling and effective storyline development, song selection, sound, lighting and visual enhancements, creative service elements and transitions, coordination of all instrumentalists, vocalists, and technical crew
  4. Overseeing planning and debrief processes for weekend services
• Oversee programming and production support for onsite special events
• Partner with Campus Pastors to align the worship services at all campuses around Wooddale’s core mission, vision, values, and philosophy of worship
• Develop strategies, policies and processes for creating healthy, God-honoring teams who are engaged in and growing in their relationship with Jesus, and growing in their ability to create worshipful experiences
• Teach, shepherd and encourage the Creative Arts Team including leadership development, discipleship, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships and team development
• Maintain a strong network of relevant professionals (worship leaders, musicians, technical engineers, etc.)
• Manage the weekend budget and partner with Wooddale’s CFO to forecast large capital investments 3 to 5 years into the future
• As a member of the Leadership Team, provide input and take responsibility for high-level initiatives within the church

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: BA/BS degree required; Relevant master’s degree preferred
• Strategic and creative leader with 5-10 years of relevant leadership experience
• Has professional experience in music performance or production 
• Exhibits a strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ evidenced in personal relationships, commitment to the church, personal work ethic, compassion, and a heart to reach others for Christ
• Exhibits excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills
• Effective team builder with innate people skills
• Proven ability to design effective worship services that are relevant, excellent and purposeful, and that effectively help Wooddale Church accomplish its mission
• Be a regular participant in public worship at Wooddale Church and remain a member in good standing of Wooddale Church
• Subscribe to and affirm the Statement of Faith and Covenant of Wooddale Church

RELATIONSHIPS

• Collaborates directly and frequently with Senior Pastor
• Supervises Creative and Technical Arts teams
• Relates to Campus Pastors and Ministry Pastors
• Coordinate with other members of church staff

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job operates in an office setting and will include using standard office equipment. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and reach with hands and arms.
