Woodcraft Rangers is Hiring a Camp Coordinator - Summer Day Camp Near Canoga Park, CA

Job Title: Camp Coordinator

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00.

Schedule: 30 hours/week, shifts vary per location

Reports to: Program Manager

Program hours of operation: 8:00 AM – 5:00/6:00 PM (varies per location)

Locations: LAUSD (SFV, South LA, South Gate, Huntington Park, West LA/Westwood), Garvey Elementary School District (Rosemead/San Gabriel/Monterey Park), Equitas Academy Charters (Pico-Union), Green Dot Public Schools (LA), Inner City Education Foundation (View Park), Lennox School District (Lennox), Aspire Public Schools, Ingenium Charter Schools (West Valley & Compton), and Claremont Unified School District (Claremont).

In 1922, Woodcraft Rangers opened its doors in Los Angeles and began its mission of guiding young people as they explore pathways to purposeful lives. A progressive organization for its time, Woodcraft’s programs were notably inclusive, youth-led and rooted in the Woodcraft Way, a framework that develops body, mind, spirit, and service. Woodcraft has been, and continues to be, at the forefront of expanded learning opportunities in the greater Los Angeles area.

What We Do:

Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer Lifecraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 1,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 20,000 youth ages 4-18 annually in and from 110 Title I schools across LA County!

Job Summary:

A Camp Coordinator is responsible for the overall logistics of the summer day camp program at a site. Camp Coordinators serve as the liaison of the program’s needs and information to parents, community members, school administration, and staff. Camp Coordinators inspire and

coordinate daily camp schedules while ensuring a safe, fun, and positive environment for

campers and staff. They oversee the daily program’s operations and ensure that all staff are equipped and ready to run a successful day camp program. They supervise assistant camp coordinators, community liaisons, and club leaders who will supervise 10-20 campers daily. The manage the staff’s schedules and daily enrichment offerings.

The Camp Coordinator position is an on-site position, including attending training at the Woodcraft Rangers main office in Little Tokyo and school sites.

Role Overview:

· Ensure students are in a safe environment (physically and emotionally). Promotes an

inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity, for all program participants, staff, and families.

· Leads and coaches the on-site team to perform their duties and deliver high-quality programs and provides positive customer service. Promotes professional growth and development for all team members.

· Effectively implements site protocols, safety regulations, WR procedures and policies and provides any necessary training or coaching to on-site teams.

· Communicates with facilities management to ensure access to required facilities during program hours.

· Collects and reviews activity plans and program material list from Camp Leaders to develop spending plan within a given budget. Proactively coordinates with the purchasing team to ensure all staff have access to required materials in a timely manner.

· Coordinates end of week themes activities, camp mingle, and end of summer culmination.

· Coordinates field trips with field trip coordinator, communicates with parents/guardians and trip details and requirements. Attend a field trip and serve as the lead WR Team Member for the day.

· Maintain and submit student attendance daily.

· Ensure activities meet the needs and abilities of campers’ age and skill level.

· Oversees staff schedules, ADP including approving timesheets and sick time, and coordinates sub/floater fill in as needed.

· Participates in staff development trainings as required/as scheduled.

· Other related duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate:

Ideally, we are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, energetic, ambitious, proactive, and positive, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Multi-tasking and attention to detail must be strengths this individual possesses. Individuals need to be comfortable to present and speak in front of staff and peers during in-person training.

Requirements:

· FBI & DOJ Livescan clearance

· TB Test clearance

· First Aid & CPR Certification (provided by WR)

· 1 years’ experience supervising a group of children in a school or recreational setting.

· 1 years’ experience supervising or leading a team and/or a group of children in a school or recreational setting.

· AA Degree in Child Development or a related field is preferred. 12 units of Child

· Development or similar.

· Work well with young children and/or youth.

· Good oral and written communication.

· Computer literacy and willingness to learn.

· Ability to use smart phone for work related business (WR provides Wi-Fi/cell stipend)
