Role Purpose:

The role of a Production Supervisor is to manage the production performance of the shift in meeting set targets and budgets, enforce the contract and personnel issues on the floor and comply with health and safety mandates.


The main missions of the role are to:

  • Drive Continuous Improvement to achieve and exceed budget targets for DLMPMD (Direct Labor Meters per Monday), OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness / Schedule Efficiency), Scrap %, and DLCPM (Direct Labor Cost per Meter) measurables assigned by the Operations / Production Manager.
  • Ensure the shift starts on time at the start of the shift and after breaks to ensure downtime is not incurred.
  • Implement and manage plant production processes, required auditing of product and SOT / SWI.
  • Manage the shift and ensure appropriate staffing, maintain working environment according to Company Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards, detect and advise training needs, share information (transparency), participate in corrective action development and implementation.
  • Meet established customer specifications on the shift concerning Stable Flow @ TAKT, Quality, Delivery and Costs; implement preventative and corrective measures in the production process to assure that customer demands are properly met.
  • React, contain and establish clean points in response to customer quality concerns and initial sorts as required accompanied with corresponding paperwork and sort records.
  • Respond to team problems, product or personnel in a professional and timely manner.
  • Implement action plans in order to improve functionality/productivity and to obtain program and Group objectives; make necessary corrective adjustments.
  • Lead & participate in the lean activities and projects.
  • Maintain daily timekeeping records and daily reporting as required.
  • Ensure enforcement of plant shop rules, attendance policy, teammate accountability, and company safety policy including state VOC / OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain SOT, (Standard Operator Training)/ SWI, (Standardized Work Instructions) in line with TWI, (Training Within the Industry)training requirements.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and 3-5 years of work experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Record of pro-active supervisory accomplishments in Coaching, Managing Processes, Process Improvement, Production Planning, Dealing with Complexity, Strategy, Quality Management, Safety Management, Documentation Skills, Automotive Manufacturing Production Planning.
  • Solid understanding of automotive quality requirements
  • Excellent computer knowledge required in Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong people skills including communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Health Safety and Environmental, Collective Agreements and manpower planning.
  • Able to work weekends and off-shifts.


Duties

  • Promote and ensure good Health, Safety & Environment practices are followed by enforcing corporate standards and procedures in addition to complying with legal regulations.
  • Accomplish production objectives by assigning, and coaching employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, training, appraising and discipline employees. Adhering to corporate policies and health, safety, and environmental procedures. Improve workflow by eliminating downtime; analyzing delays; trying new methods. Monitor and respond to day-to-day product and process concerns. Work closely with other departments in problem-solving issues. Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques. Decision-making and problem-solving of any technical or scheduling issues arising during the back shift. Effectively manage a workforce of approximately 40 to 45 unionized employees.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing production requirements; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting production results by completing daily shift reports. Maintain the flow of operations by communicating production status, requirements, and problems to the next shift. Initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between shifts and departments.
  • Meet the quality and customer-service standards.
  • Ensure customer quality standards are adhered to and related issues are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to team effort by contributing to the Lean Manufacturing principles and accomplishing results as needed.
  • Maintain a working relationship with union by complying with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement and Plant Rules. Resolve personnel problems with Union by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
