Wood is Hiring a Maintenance Superintendent Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Superintendent to join our team in Florida. Extensive experience working outages in the power generation industry is a plus.

Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship from Wood is required.

Directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, industrial plants, or other establishments.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Accurately interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints or drawings and recognize basic blueprint terms and symbols for job application
  • Identify, recognize and demonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools appropriate for the job
  • Recognize various materials used in piping systems and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques
  • Select and safely use appropriate equipment which may include (but not limited to) manlifts, fork lifts, and company trucks
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices
  • Review job orders to determine work priorities
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operation
  • Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new product or improve existing products
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of hear, steam, electric power, gas, or air requires for operations
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports, and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials
  • Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations
  • Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures
  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment
  • May performs supervisory functions in establishments where subordinate supervisory personnel are not utilized
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
  • May train new workers
