Wood Violet Recovery – an affiliate of Sunshine Behavioral Health - is a residential substance use treatment program. We’re located in Dodgeville, Wisconsin - approximately 45 minutes from Madison.

We’re looking for an Addiction Counselor to assess and monitor client’s behaviors while in treatment for chemical and alcohol use and dependency.
  • You will provide crisis management and counseling services while also running group therapies and education for the clients and family/significant others in a therapeutic setting.
  • You will care for client’s emotional needs and coordinate treatment and discharge planning.
  • You will be responsible for documenting client behavior in group participation and counseling.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Clinical Director in the coordination of services to clients.
  • Assist and facilitate discharge planning and community outreach.
  • Provide assessment and participate in the treatment planning with clients and their families/significant others.
  • Review client chart for completion of all paperwork with appropriate signatures.
  • Initiate, facilitate and promote on-site activities, therapeutic support and educational groups, outings and community meetings and document these activities in the client’s chart.
  • Provide education for clients and significant others.
  • Respond to emergencies and initiate action as required.
  • Record significant events involving client’s activities in the daily record.
  • Respond to client complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Check for completion of client orientation by intake staff.
  • Contact family after intake and set up a schedule of communication for the remainder of treatment.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
To be an Addiction Counselor at Wood Violet Recovery, you should have:
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 42CFR Part 2.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal community resources available to clients.
  • Prior experience and knowledge in an addiction recovery and/or MAT (medication assisted treatment) environment.
  • Possess experience with crisis management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be certified in the State of Wisconsin with the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS), or certification- eligible in the State of Wisconsin as a substance abuse counselor-in training (SAC-IT), substance abuse counselor (SAC/CSAC), qualified treatment trainee (QTT) and/or have a bachelor’s degree in behavioral health related field, and knowledgeable in addiction treatment.
  • Licensed as a mental health professional in the State of Wisconsin with the Wisconsin DSPS, or license eligible in the State of Wisconsin and knowledgeable in addiction treatment.
  • One (1) year of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Wisconsin State Driver’s License, insurance to meet state requirements and ability to operate Program van.
  • Must successfully pass a caregiver background check and DMV check at hire and annually thereafter in accordance with state and local DHS requirements.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screen and annually thereafter per WVR policy.
  • Current CPR/BLS and First Aid Certification.
