Wood Injury Law, PLLC is Hiring a Personal Injury Legal Secretary Near Mesa, AZ

We are looking for an experienced personal injury legal assistant to support our busy attorneys and paralegals at our law firm. You'll be in charge of coordinating the settlement payment with the client and medical providers. You will also be tasked with answering phone calls and emails, scheduling meetings, and informing our legal team of looming deadlines. You'll also order medical and billing records. Compensation:

$19 - $23 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Perform legal research, as needed, with help from attorneys and paralegals, and have an understanding of medical terminology
  • Submit documents electronically in both state and federal court, and request billing and medical records
  • Create and proofread pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and papers for case preparation
  • Process client billing appropriately using daily time records, with the accounting department's assistance
  • Answer phones, communicate with opposing attorney offices, take dictation, respond to emails, and remind the team of deadlines
  • Communicate with doctor offices, hospitals, opposing attorney offices, and respond to emails
  • Maintain highly organized client case files (physical and electronic)
  • Contact auto and health insurance companies to verify coverage and send letters of representation
  • Follow up on pending requests for demand-ready clients
  • Open claims with insurance companies
  • Perform general office duties as requested
  • Office hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; flexible position hours to be discussed during the interview process
Qualifications:
  • Must have experience in use of legal software, case management, and docketing programs
  • Applicants must have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Able to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • An Associate’s degree or some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • At least 1-2 years of previous experience in personal injury law firm performing administrative tasks
  • Paralegal certificate is preferred but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • 1-2 years in a prior personal injury law firm is preferred but not required
