Wood County Hospital is Hiring a Director- Acute Care Near Bowling Green, OH

Wood County Hosptial is accepting applications for Director, Acute Care. This position provides 24/7 leadership and accountability for the clinical practice and operational functions of the acute care units at Wood County Hospital. Assists with patient care, either directly or indirectly. Demonstrates critical thinking/clinical reasoning in decision making to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, timely, compassionate, and cost-effective care to the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.Job Duties:
Effectively communicates and collaborates both intra- and interdepartmentally with staff, directors, physicians, administration, other healthcare team members as well as with the community. Provides development, delivery, supervision, and/or coordination of educational and quality improvement activities for acute care units. Participates in strategic and service growth planning and implementation. 

  • Maintains direct oversight of acute care units and staffing.
  • Reviews and evaluates staffing levels to meet the needs of patient care.
  • Directs, supervises and participates in implementing planned changes and activities to improve nursing care.
  • Coordinates emergency situations in accordance with hospital policies and procedure
  • Serves as consultant in technical and professional matters for nursing staff.
  • Keeps CNO informed on situations and nursing unit needs.

Qualifications:

 Education

  • Graduate of an accredited program for nursing education required, Bachelor’s degree preferred in Nursing (BSN) or Healthcare Services required or must be currently enrolled with expected graduation within 2 years. Master’s degree in nursing, Business, or Healthcare Administration strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification
  • Current licensure to practice professional Nursing in the State of Ohio.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification required.
Experience
  • Five years' experience in management at director/administrative level preferred
Skills
  • Current knowledge of scope of practice, trends, standards of care and regulatory/accrediting requirements relevant to acute care nursing.
  • Working knowledge of fiscal management principles and practices. Experience in budget development and monitoring preferred.
  • Knowledge of and skill in review of benchmarks and other analytics as well as implementation of performance improvement initiatives.
  • Strong planning and project management skills and ability to apply these skills in effective working partnerships across organizational lines.
