Women Against Abuse (WAA), is looking for an experienced individual to join the team as our Economic Empowerment Assistant!

WAA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency, is Philadelphia's leading domestic violence advocate and service provider and among the largest domestic violence agencies in the country. The mission of WAA is to provide quality, compassionate and non-judgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence through advocacy and community education. With over 170 staff, WAA serves (2-100 bed safe havens and 15 transitional housing apartments), legal services, hotline counseling, aftercare community-based services, prevention & education, and advocacy.

Responsibilities:The Economic Empowerment Assistant will support clients & case managers in obtaining all documentation for rental assistance processing (collecting landlord tax forms, leases, submitting check requests, etc.), Assist in coordinating workshops for Economic Empowerment programming (Clarifi, The Wardrobe, other employers, etc.); Create the calendar for all client activities related to EEP (across all sites) Assist in gathering “success stories” and data for multiple funders, related to housing stability (HAFI, OVW, OAK, Fresh Start, etc.) Assist in convening the EEP consortium providers (at minimum quarterly) to exchange resources and ensure that clients’ unique needs each quarter are met Enters data related to services provided by EEP team, including workshop attendance, referrals, resources, etc. into the Client Track database Assist with Special Projects, as assigned Maintain professionalism, sensitivity, and confidentiality at all times, attend staff, pro-gram and Agency meetings, as well as supervision as required. All responsibilities are implemented according to WAA’s mission and values and according to Agency standards.

Qualifications:

1. An Associate’s degree preferred, a minimum of a HS diploma or GED required.

2. A minimum 1 year office support, administrative, or similar experience required.

3. Intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) skills required.

4. Experience working in human services or related organization, preferred.

5. Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written required.

6. Demonstrated ability to plan projects and follow through to completion is required.

7. Demonstrated ability to organize time and detail, including keeping of records, is required.

8. Some experience in working on domestic violence issues is strongly preferred.

9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

10. Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.

11. Flexibility in the midst of a changing environment with multiple and/or changing priorities and deadlines

12. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population is required, and in an urban setting strongly preferred.

13. Must satisfactorily pass criminal (state & FBI) and child abuse clearances and must attend Domestic Violence Virtual Training (all expenses paid by WAA)
