Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required
• Current licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing is required
• One year as a registered nurse with most of that experience in perioperative services preferred

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

• Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
• Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure
• Provide education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance
• Coordinates all aspects of nursing care with all disciplines of the surgical team to achieve defined patient outcomes
• Maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practice
• Directs and assists in care and handling of state of the art supplies, equipment and instruments
• Document care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priority
• Provide patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice standards, ANA Standards & the LA Nurse Practice Act
• Perform other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital

Hours:

1 or 2, 12-hour shifts per week. 9 am - 9 pm, Monday-Friday

Pay

$27.72 - $44.35; plus PRN differential in lieu of benefits
