Woman Hospital is Hiring a Physician Assistant - Breast Specialists Clinic - Days - Full-time Near Baton Rouge, LA

Woman’s is more than just a hospital. We offer a variety of outpatient health clinics, specialty practices and services for the community. Woman’s Breast Specialist Clinic is looking for a Physician Assistant.

The Physician Assistant provides a unique high-quality approach to healthcare for patients. Major areas of responsibility include obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, diagnosing, and treating health problems and collaborating with the medical director, physicians, staff, and other healthcare professionals as needed.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program and certified as a physician assistant.
  • A minimum of two years of related physician assistant experience preferred, preferably in a clinic setting.

Responsibilities of the Physician Assistant include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathers pertinent information systematically and skillfully from all sources; family history, diagnostic tests, comprehensive physical exams, etc.
  • Differentiates normal and abnormal variations for all body systems.
  • Develops problem lists with associated differential diagnosis.
  • Plans and implements appropriate pharmacologic therapies under the guidance of a physician.
  • Formulates a plan of care in collaboration with the patient, physician and other members of the healthcare team which incorporates
    healthcare maintenance, discharge and follow-up care.
  • Analyzes multiple sources of data in making clinical judgments and in determining the effectiveness of a plan of care.
  • Accurately and appropriately performs and documents routine diagnostic and therapeutic techniques according to established protocol
    and current standards.
  • Seeks appropriate consultation dependent upon patient's healthcare needs.
  • Accurately presents and documents pertinent data, impression and plan of care into the medical record.
  • Identifies and clarifies the PA's role to the patient and members of the healthcare team.
  • Participates in the development, review, and evaluation of specialty protocols.
  • Participates in the systematic review of patient records, protocols and treatment plans to determine the effectiveness in meeting
    established standards of care.
  • Functions within the laws that govern physician's assistants. Identifies legal components of physician assistant practice.
  • Maintains current knowledge concerning principles and practice of specialty healthcare through current literature, journal subscriptions,
    attendance at workshops and seminars, membership in professional organizations and licensure maintenance.
  • Creates and maintains accurate records, appropriate legal documents and other reports of patient care consistent with the requirements
    of local, state and/or federal regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrates the proficiency in the referral process and use of multidisciplinary resources to meet patient's primary healthcare needs.
  • Maintains appropriate channels of collaboration and communication with other healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to competently and independently assess a situation, consider the alternatives and properly choose an
    appropriate of action in the acute and ambulatory setting.
  • Performs evaluation and reassessment of medical problems, patient responses and progress. Revises plan of medical management and
    documents in medical progress record as needed under guidance of physician.
  • Performs and/or orders necessary diagnostic and therapeutic interventions as indicated for identification and management of healthcare
    conditions. Accurately interprets diagnostic tests in a timely manner.
  • Displays good independent problem-solving skills and takes responsibility for improving technical skills, critical thinking and
    interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Assists physician(s) in surgery or procedures as needed/required.
  • Performs other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

Hours

Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm

Pay

$92,850 to $153,200 based on experience
