Wolfe Research is Hiring an Equity Research Associate- Special Situations/ Event Driven Near New York, NY

Wolfe Research is seeking an experienced associate to join its #1 II-Ranked Accounting & Tax Policy Macro Research Team focusing on Special Situations/Event Driven research. The associate will assist in all facets of this franchise as a generalist analyzing such opportunities as spin-offs, activist situations, asset sales and other value investment strategies. This role requires long hours to assist in the production of weekly and daily comprehensive event driven research reports for clients. The role also requires attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, stock idea generation, working independently, and the ability to succinctly communicate complex situations. Other responsibilities include financial modeling/valuation, note writing, and helping create differentiated research analyses around corporate events. Experience in equity/macroeconomic research, investment banking, public accounting or consulting is highly desirable and preferred.

Qualifications/Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to generate ideas: work closely and communicate effectively in a time sensitive environment, ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines, strong organizational skills, client service minded and strong writing skills
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills: working with large data sets in Excel/Access, and ability to source and process information quickly and independently
  • Technical skills: Bloomberg/FactSet, advanced Excel (macros, pivot tables, conditional formatting, short cuts) and Capital IQ
  • Use mastery of Excel functions: shortcuts, developing complex logic formulas, mastery of reference formulas, ability to integrate graphics/data tables, and formatting
Requirements:
  • Team player who is excited to learn about new companies and make an immediate impact
  • Passion for event-driven investments and broader macroeconomic research
  • Comfortable working long hours and weekends
  • Advanced understanding of financial modeling, with experience building and maintaining three statement models
  • 1-4 years of experience at a sell-side firm researching event driven investments, at a buy-side firm, in an investment banking program, in public accounting, or at a consulting firm
  • Series 7, 63, 86 and 87 licensed individuals preferred, but also expected to be completed within your first 18 months on the team

Education:
  • BA required, concentration in economics, accounting, finance, or math preferred
  • CFA, CPA, and/or MBA desirable

The compensation for this role is market competitive with a base salary range of $75,000 -$150,000. We intend to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill-set, job-related experience, and location.
