Summer Camp Nurse Job Description:

Wohelo is a 115-year-old, family run, all-girls’, residential summer camp located on the shores of beautiful Sebago Lake. We are hiring nurses who share our philosophy of developing girls to their fullest potential. Our nurses are an integral part of our camp community; we want and encourage our nurses to participate in activities and camp life as much as possible. This position provides an opportunity to spend a summer in an idyllic setting while honing primary care nursing skills within a healthy pediatric population. Our Healthcare Center provides 24-hour coverage for 200 campers and is typically staffed with 2 nurses and an assistant. We have 24-hour access to a local physician for consults and same-day appointments, and are located within 30 minutes of major medical facilities. Camp Nurse responsibilities: • Dispense meds • Provide first aid for minor injuries • Promote health and safety of campers and staff • Keep medical records (electronic and paper) • Ensure transitioning nurses are informed of Healthcare Center procedures and current medical issues • Communicate with parents • Accompany sick/injured campers or staff to the hospital or to medical appointments

Qualifications and Requirements A current, unrestricted RN or LPN license, licensed EMTs with sufficient experience may also qualify. The ideal candidate will: be confident in assessment skills; be flexible and able to adapt to different environments and schedules; be responsible, hard-working, energetic, and positive; have experience with children (does not have to be in a medical capacity); and, enjoy an active lifestyle. Compensation: • Competitive salaries, vary according to qualifications. Camperships or childcare may be available. • Room & board and uniform. Work Schedule: Our Healthcare Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will have three evenings off a week as well as one full day. Local hires may choose to live at home and commute. In this case, work hours would be from 7am-7pm, 6 days a week. All meals are provided by camp, and free time to rest and participate in activities is scheduled throughout the day.
