Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D School of Medicine is searching for a Part-Time Research Assistant for our Epidemiology and Biostatistics department. Assist with research-related activities for the WMed Population Health Research Team pillar projects, including but not limited to, compliance with research study protocols, study recruitment, enrollment, data collection, maintaining confidentiality, and data base development.

Responsibilities

• Participate fully in all required trainings.
• Comply with public health and safety codes related to data collection sites.
• Ensure confidentiality of study participants and related data.
• Implement data collection activities in accordance with study protocols, regarding survey administration, record abstraction and secondary database management.
• Coordinate with Project Coordinator and other project or departmental staff.
• Comply with quality checks of project data collection activities and database.
• Comply with data security and data backup procedures.
• Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
• Create and maintain organizational filing system within personal drives.
• Assist in completing tasks and responsibilities related to team pillars and grant obligations.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school graduation or equivalent

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing.
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
• Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision.
• Able to perform duties in a timely and efficient manner.

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) is an exciting environment to pursue and academic career. WMed Health is the clinical practice of the medical school with more than 300 providers offering comprehensive primary care and specialty services in several locations throughout Kalamazoo, Portage, and Battle Creek. The Department of Pathology faculty serve as the Office of the Medical Examiner for counties throughout Michigan and northern Indiana.

The W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus located in downtown Kalamazoo serves as the primary educational facility with faculty and administrative offices, student study and social spaces, team-based learning halls, a state-of-the-art Simulation Center accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, basic science research labs, as well as toxicology and forensic pathology labs.
