Job Title: Building Materials Delivery Driver Helper
Location: Henrietta, NY
Department: Morse Sash & Door Shipping Dept.
Reports To: Dispatch Supervisor
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm with availability until 5pm. Occasional overtime may include Saturdays.
Work Authorization: US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)

Summary: As a material handler at our building materials company, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse facility. You will be responsible for various tasks related to the handling, storage, and distribution of building materials, contributing to the efficient and accurate fulfillment of customer orders and the overall success of our operations.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

• Assisting with Loading and Unloading: Helping the driver load building materials onto the truck at the warehouse and unload them at the delivery location. This may involve lifting heavy items and using equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks.
• Inventory Management: Assisting in inventory control by accurately counting and recording the materials being loaded and unloaded. This helps ensure that the correct items are delivered to the right location.
• Ensuring Safety: Following safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries during loading, unloading, and transportation. This includes using appropriate lifting techniques and wearing protective gear.
• Securing Cargo: Helping to secure the cargo on the truck using straps, ropes, or other securing mechanisms to prevent shifting or damage during transportation.
• Assisting with Route Navigation: Helping the driver navigate to delivery locations by providing directions or using navigation devices. Familiarity with local roads and traffic patterns can be beneficial.
• Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service by assisting customers with inquiries, carrying materials to designated areas, and ensuring customer satisfaction during the delivery process.
• Maintaining Cleanliness: Keeping the warehouse and delivery truck clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
• Assisting with Paperwork: Assisting the driver with paperwork such as delivery receipts, invoices, and other documentation related to the transportation and delivery of building materials.
• Equipment Maintenance: Assisting with basic maintenance tasks for delivery vehicles and warehouse equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Adhering to Regulations: Following all relevant transportation regulations and company policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety standards
• Required to drive box truck to make deliveries. ( Occasionally, on company need)
• Warehouse Duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills/Education:

• Knowledge of and ability to operate a forklift and pallet jacks preferred.

• Physically demanding job that requires being able to stand, move, and lift for the duration of shift.

• Physical lifting up to 100 pounds frequently.

• Experience in warehouse/distribution center preferred.

• Advanced math and reading skills to perform job tasks and complete necessary paperwork

• Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.

• Employees must be reliable, punctual, and safety-minded, with a strong work ethic.

• High School Diploma/GED equivalent preferred.

• Clean and Valid Driver’s License.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

• 2 years in a warehouse/material handling environment
• 1 Year box truck delivery a plus.
• 2 years minimum in a fast-paced, team-oriented, detail-oriented, and physically demanding work environment.
• Production or Construction experience is a plus.

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work may occur both indoors and outdoors, depending on the projects and tasks.

• Exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow or wind may occur during outdoor work.

• May encounter loud noise from machinery, power tools, and equipment used in production activities.

• Unconditioned Warehouse environment.

• Exposure to vibrations from operating power tools and equipment may also occur.

• Outdoor, all-season, rough and uneven terrain driving position.
