The Role

Our tech stack is built on robust foundational web applications in Full-Stack JavaScript (TypeScript, React, Node, Express, and Koa). As we accelerate how consumers can interface with Wizard, we intend to complement our existing technology by adding a mobile interface. Our highest priority will be iOS (Swift) later in 2024.

To prepare us for this tech stack augmentation, we actively seek a Lead Software Engineer who will work 80% of their time in Full Stack JavaScript (heavy TypeScript) and 20% on mobile iOS (Swift) development. This role will include feature work, continued support of our React/Node web applications, and high ownership of user-facing iOS projects as part of our conversational commerce platform. 

Our primary focus areas are a real-time conversation management service that helps our team provide the best customer interaction through text, products to enhance the customer experience on iOS, and a mobile-friendly web app customers use to review product details. You will work closely with cross-functional teams of product managers, designers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers to create a zero-friction user experience for our customers.

• Build highly-available and performant Node.js web applications and APIs
• Ship reusable, testable, and production-grade code that follows best practices
• Architect and ship maintainable Apps, App Clips, and Extensions for iOS 
• Work with product and design teams to create strong experiences with a focus on optimal user experience
• Manage iOS App provisioning, deployment, and maintenance
• Leverage well-written and tested open-source libraries when available
• Write technical documentation
• Mentor fellow developers in selecting the appropriate technologies, data structures, design patterns, and algorithms for a given problem
• Write unit and integration tests with high code coverage

You

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar discipline
• 10 years experience in Full Stack JavaScript (TypeScript, React, Node, Express, Koa)
• 3-5 years experience in iOS development (Swift)
• Expertise in writing and debugging SQL queries
• Designing database schemas and migrating them over time
• Expertise with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB
• Experience with system design and web application architecture
• Thorough understanding of asynchronous programming (promises, async / await)
• Experience building and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs
• Familiarity with one or more cloud providers: AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Proficiency with Unit and Integration Testing
• Proficiency with Git, GitFlow, and using services such as Github or Bitbucket
• First-hand experience with the Apple Developer Program and App Store Connect
• Shipped multiple iOS apps to the public (non-Enterprise) App Store
• Experience leading complex projects and delivering products to a highly scaled user base
• Strong understanding of design principles and practices, able to deliver strong UX from various levels of design specifications

The expected salary for this role is $185,000 -$235,000 depending on skills and experiences.
