The Procurement Manager oversees the daily activities of the strategic procurement department and related procurement staff product lines and categories. As a key component of the Supply Chain infrastructure, the Procurement Manager partners and collaborates closely with Demand Planning, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Inventory Control, Logistics and Customer Care to align processes, ensure efficiencies and increase customer satisfaction. The Procurement Manager will further assist in the development of strategic direction, research and monitor industry trends, manage supplier contract negotiations through implementation, as well as measure and evaluate supplier performance.
Essential Duties
· Leads the inventory optimization efforts aimed at improving inventory efficiencies, reducing costs and ensuring days on hand coverage in support of manufacturing planning/scheduling.
· Develops sourcing standards inclusive of process and execution.
· Sources and identifies quality suppliers capable of providing necessary materials to satisfy customer and internal requirements.
· Maintains continuous knowledge of market conditions, anticipates market changes and recommends appropriate actions as related to the entire supply chain.
· Optimizes material costs through supplier analysis; identifies, develops and executes cost savings initiatives in relation to material and service costs, delivery methods, and logistics and payment terms.
· Provides tactical expertise and represents new product development within Stagegate work flow to ensure accurate and timely commercialization.
· Ensures continuous analysis of supplier alternatives and recommends use of alternative materials and/or manufacturing operations methods to reduce costs.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree (Business, Supply Chain or Food Science or related discipline preferred).
· Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in Purchasing Operations, Demand Planning, Production Planning/Scheduling, Supply Chain.
· experience in Food Ingredient/Manufacturing, Chemical or Pharmaceutical background preferred.
· 3 to 5 years of leadership experience with direct reports.
· Working knowledge and demosntared history of supplier negotiations, supplier contracting and value analysis techniques.
· High level of proficiency with MRP/ERP systems and MS-Office, QAD/MFG-Pro. John Galt Atlas Suite proficiency is a plus.
· APICS – CPIM preferred.
