Position Overview:
Stimson Lumber Company is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manufacturing Supervisor to join our team. This Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing our Hardboard facility, a team of approximately 15 individuals working day shift, including machine operators, environmental specialists, forklift operators, and production workers. The successful candidate will work closely with the maintenance team to ensure optimal functionality of our hardboard press and other equipment, while meeting production goals.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the manufacturing team to ensure safety, adherence to work instructions, and production of high-quality hardboard products.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability among team members.
  • Provide clear direction and guidance to employees to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and address equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the workplace to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Train and develop team members to enhance their skills and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor production metrics and implement process improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Communicate effectively with management, peers, and subordinates to provide updates on production status, issues, and solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including inventory levels, equipment maintenance, and employee performance documents.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment. Experience in wood products or paper mill a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures, with a commitment to promoting a safe work environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to meet production demands.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workplace.
Pay and Benefits:
  • Competitive salary starting between $82,000-$92,000 per year, or higher with directly applicable experience and skills.
  • Eligible to participate in the Stimson Annual Performance Bonus Plan with a bonus target of 15% of annual base pay.
