We are looking for a Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) Test Engineer to join the Systems Test Team and support the Aircraft and Onboard Autonomy Systems Integrated Product Team (IPT). You will develop HIL test stations for Wisk Generation 6 Avionics and Aircraft Systems. You will be responsible for creating the physical test station and the associated test software tools & infrastructure.

Why we need you:

  • You will develop an automated test environment that will be used across the different system HIL test stations and Wisk Gen 6 Iron Bird. You will work closely with the Software Verification and Simulation teams to develop common tools and processes. You will bridge the gap between software, hardware and simulation to ensure everything integrates properly.
  • The successful candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, hands-on and a driver for best safety practices. 
What you will do:
  • Lead the development of HIL test stations for different aircraft systems and support the Iron Bird design with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with the avionics, electrical, software and simulation engineers to develop requirements for the test station and its environment 
  • Setup Data Acquisition Systems (DAQs) and real-time test software 
  • Source and coordinate external suppliers
  • Write test specification, operation manual and test procedures
  • Design, procure and fabricate test station and harnesses
  • Design Network architecture for the HIL test stations 
  • Establish traceability using requirement management tools and version control
  • Develop CI/CD pipeline and common software test framework for the different HIL test stations
  • Develop test scripts
  • Automate test execution, data collection and post-processing to increase test cadence and reporting, ease operation and increase safety
  • Maintain HIL test stations, configuration management, calibration log and upgrade them with the latest hardware and software versions
  • Ensure and improve safety protocols.
What you have done:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering degree
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • 3 years of HIL and certification test experience
  • Experience developing conforming test assets for hardware and software certification
  • Experience testing embedded software
  • Proficient with National Instrument (NI) tools and hardware (Veristand, Labview, PXI)
  • Proficient with Serial Protocols (RS485, RS422), Ethernet UDP, ARINC (A429)
  • Excellent Python and/or C software scripting skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desired:
  • Knowledge of power electronics, battery management systems and/or avionics systems
  • Strong fundamentals and hands-on experience in analog and/or power electronics design
  • Experience interpreting PCB Schematics, Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and component datasheets 
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters as well as tools such as CANalyzer and National Instruments hardware.
  • Familiarity with Linux 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Pay Range the Company expects to pay:$150,163 - $172,601per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
