We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team. The goal of a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Wisk is to contribute the highest level of mechanical design with a strong understanding of first principles and analysis. You will be part of the Energy Storage and Power Systems (ESPS) team that develops the battery pack and power distribution systems that power all systems on our all-electric aircraft.

What you will do:

• As part of the ESPS organization, and deployed in the Battery Pack and Module group, you will act as a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market
• Create 3D CAD models using NX.
• Create and release 2D mechanical design drawings
• Work in a multidisciplinary group to drive design electromechanical assemblies of high voltage components
• Design mechanical components and assemblies of the battery pack and modules powering Wisk’s next-generation eVTOL aircraft
• Optimize mechanical designs for weight and size by developing creative design solutions using advanced materials and innovative packaging concepts
• Collaborate with other engineering teams, including aircraft structures, cell development and cable harnessing, to integrate all systems at the aircraft level
• Build and test prototype(s) to develop new technologies, improve tech maturity, and ensure they meet functional requirements
• Support prototype builds and testing

• Currently enrolled in a Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent) BS, MS or PhD program
• Familiar with CAD software such as Siemens NX(preferred), Solidworks, etc.
• Familiar with drafting standards, including GD&T, and can interpret or create engineering drawings
• You have worked on the development of complex hardware products in aerospace, automotive or other similar industrial applications. Prior experience through internships or with student design teams (ex: FSAE) is a plus.
• You have hands-on experience building prototypes, setting up and running tests. Preference will be given for experience with EVs, batteries, power electronics or other high-voltage applications.
• You have strong documentation skills and can write detailed test and analysis technical reports.
• Embrace learning, be curious, organized & methodical and pay attention to detail
• Experience working within large assembly environments strongly preferred
• You have a safety-oriented mindset and have worked around hazardous equipment requiring advanced safety training. Experience and training with high-voltage (HV) a strong advantage.
• You are a highly motivated, self starting individual with a broad set of skills and never afraid of facing complex technical challenges
• You are a solution oriented individual with a strong analytical mindset

This internship role will be based at Wisk's headquarters in Mountain View, California and relocation or housing will not be provided.

Must live in the US at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins

Must be either a rising sophomore, junior, or senior in college

Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, transcripts are required

Must be an enrolled student at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins

Must be able to work 40 hours a week for 10 weeks (full-time for 3 months)
