Wisconsin Metal Fab is Hiring a Press Brake Operator- 1st or 2nd Shift Near Chippewa Falls, WI

We are looking for 1st or 2nd shift Press Brake Operators Monday through Friday shift with a three-day weekend!

Job Summary

Sets up, edits and operates CNC and Mechanical Press Brake machines to bend, notch, form, straighten or punch aluminum, steel and stainless steel to achieve specified results while adhering to internal and customer-driven quality standards and scheduling requirements in a metal fabrication environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sets up, edits and runs mechanical or CNC press brake machines with different punch and die combinations.
  • Utilizes proper procedures for operating a CNC back gauge, stroke control, pressure setting and camber control for a wide range of material.
  • Sets stops on machine bed, changes dies and adjusts components, such as ram or power press, when making multiple or successive passes.
  • Selects and positions flat, block, radius or special purpose die sets into ram and bed of machine using material handling equipment.
  • Downloads operating program to CNC console and verifies there are no computer problems or data discrepancies present. May be required to manually create programs.
  • Loads and unloads material and parts manually or by using material handling equipment.
  • Produces the first piece of a product in a run, inspects the piece by using standard measuring tools and then finishes the production run maintaining quality standards throughout the run.
  • Monitors and evaluates machine operation; troubleshoots production problems, their causes and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Reports improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to the supervisor.
  • Maintains necessary records and workflow processes.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
  • Knows and complies with all personal, machine and facility safety practices and regulations; understands and follows company workplace rules.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 0 – 50 pounds frequently; 50 – 75 pounds occasionally; over 75 pounds rarely.
  • Must be able to routinely stand, sit, stoop, twist and bend throughout a nine-hour shift. ƒ Must have excellent manual dexterity and some ambidexterity.
  • Visual acuity (corrected) required for reading machine controls, written material, blueprints and to inspect parts to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, drawings, layouts and technical / non-technical information and use this information to evaluate and execute the forming process.
  • Must be able to use standard measuring tools, hand tools and material handling equipment commonly used in metal manufacturing.
  • Must be proficient in math and able to competently apply it in the production process.
  • Must be familiar with shop equipment such as grinders, drill presses, saws, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate and interact successfully with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work and pay attention to detail in a fast-paced team environment, but also be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have an excellent work ethic and superior attendance.

Education and Experience Required

  • Six months experience in CNC machine operation in fabrication industry required.
  • Minimum High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Valid state driver’s license required.

***Pay will be based on experience. Wisconsin Metal Fab commits to wages at or above market standards. There is an additional $2.00 shift premium for all 2nd shift workers as well.***
