The PSR is responsible for performing job duties at the Check-in desk, Check-out desk, and the Call Center to exceed customer expectations. Verifying all patient information and scheduling appointments according to guidelines/expectations, ensures the patient receives nothing but the best service.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Stand to greet all patients as they enter the building with a smile and warm welcome.
2. Accurately and efficiently register patients in EPIC.
3. Verifying and updating all patient information in EPIC, scanning insurance cards, and obtaining necessary signatures.
4. Collects copay when applicable. Balance cash and credit card transactions at end of day.
5. Answer incoming calls promptly and using excellent customer service skills. Gives information about the practice within the limits of practice policy. Routes clinical questions and emergency calls to clinical staff or physician according to established protocol.
6. Schedules patient appointments, including giving directions to new patients, verifying and updating all patient information including insurance information.
7. Understand what tests/insurances may require prior authorization and notify correct department.
8. Monitor incoming referrals and in-basket messages. Take appropriate action (scheduling, rescheduling, etc.).
9. Contact patient for follow-up appointments, patients who no-show, or patients who late cancel appointments, based on company procedures.
10. Scan documents received to be placed in the patient’s chart.
7. Travel and work at other clinics as requested.
10. Maintain professional demeanor at all times with patients, caregivers, physicians, and co-workers.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate. Typing 50 wpm. Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel (or equivalent). Six months to one year experience as a receptionist desired. Some medical terminology preferred. Pleasant, professional, service focused demeanor, with a patient first focus. Epic experience preferred. Must be willing to travel to other locations as needed.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Does not supervise any other employee. Reports to Patient Access Manager in all matters.
