Wisconsin Historical Society is Hiring a Capital Projects Project Manager Near Madison, WI

Position Summary

This position is responsible for Capital Project management, budget development, grant administration, historic preservation, collection, and archival activities, and special projects. This position collaborates with Historic Site Directors and statewide facilities management staff position and will be a part of the Project Management Office team to ensure projects operate within identified project management methodologies.

This position requires knowledge of state agency organizational structure, asset management policy and procedures, grant management, facility planning and development, capital budget policy and procedures, and building program policy and procedures. This position aligns the facilities program Statewide and directs consistent and strategic performance of job duties, budget planning, and historic preservation for the Society. This position ensures structures held in trust by the Society for the citizens of Wisconsin are retained responsibly and carefully.


Salary Information

The salary will be between $32.00 - $38.00 per hour ($66,560 - $79,040 annually) in accordance with the provisions of the current Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 81, range 30. The civil service classification is Capital Projects Specialist-Management. A 12-month probationary period will be required.

Job Details

Certain positions within WHS may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

This position will require some in-state travel.


Qualifications

Please make sure to describe the following qualifications within your resume and/or letter of qualifications in order to be considered for this position.

Minimally qualified candidate will have experience in 3 of the following:

  • Managing capital or facility maintenance projects
  • Working on historic preservation reviews and activities
  • Monitoring and directing contractors and consultants.
  • Grant administration/management including grant writing, tracking, and monitoring of post-award grant activities.

In addition to minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will additionally have experience in one of the following areas:

  • Public sector experience, specifically within a cultural organization such as a history center, library, or similar.
  • Continuous improvement and organizational improvement activities
  • Managing complex capital projects
  • Working on tribal preservation reviews and activities
  • Annual, biennial, and capital budget processes, including experience coordinating projects through a State Building Commission
