Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association is Hiring a Remote Application Developer

Overview

The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)*, the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is recruiting for a Application Developer to join the IT Team. The Application Developer is responsible for the end-to-end process of designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining software applications. Be a member of the Applications Development Team and work in collaboration with other IT professionals to deliver well designed applications and integrations. Partner with end-users to understand their needs, defining functionality requirements, and delivering user-friendly, efficiency-enhancing, and well-tested products. This position is a hybrid role and will require you to work in our Madison, WI office at least two days weekly.

In 2014, the UW Foundation merged with the Wisconsin Alumni Association® to better serve a growing population of UW alumni and donors. Essential Functions

  • Client Collaboration: Working closely with both internal and external clients to understand their needs and anticipate future requirements is essential. This involves effective communication and the ability to prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Application Integration: Designing, developing, and maintaining code for integrating applications using technologies such as .NET, C#, Java and MuleSoft. This will require a strong understanding of these technologies and their application in integration scenarios.
  • Code Quality and Security: Ensuring that all code written is secure, follows best practices in object-oriented programming, and is well-designed. This involves adherence to coding standards, security protocols, and code review processes.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborating with teams across different departments or functions to ensure smooth integration of software components. Effective teamwork and communication are crucial for this aspect of the role.
  • Testing: Developing and executing comprehensive test plans to ensure the quality and reliability of software products. This includes unit testing, integration testing, and possibly automated testing to catch bugs early in the development process.
  • Technical Support: Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users or other team members as needed. This requires good problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Continuous Learning: Staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve skills and knowledge. This may involve self-directed learning, attending workshops or conferences, and participating in professional development activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1 years of experience in software development, with a focus on .NET, C# , Java, or other object-oriented programming language.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions on time and within budget.
  • Experience with MuleSoft and Salesforce is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Other Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based application development, experience with software as a service and infrastructure as a service.
  • Experience with Salesforce and writing integrations to Salesforce
  • Experience with NetSuite and writing integrations to NetSuite
  • Experience writing technical specifications and system test plans
  • Familiarity in a fundraising or not for profit environments
  • Familiarity with Agile / Iterative Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). methodologies.
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops or other cloud-based source control products
  • Experience with Atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence
  • Familiar with secure programming techniques and practices.
