Information Technology Specialist (Full-Time)

Use your skills and knowledge to support the mission of the Northwestern Publishing House (NPH) as a part of our information technology (IT) team. NPH connects people with God’s word through the publishing and sales of quality Christian books and gifts.

NPH is hiring a full-time IT Specialist. In this important role, you will work closely with other IT staff and will be responsible for supporting the work of Northwestern Publishing House by performing and refining the following:

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Support and refine IT functions by performing the following:

• Mac, PC, and systems support
• Systems security
• Network administration and other activities as assigned

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES – Mac, PC, and Systems Support

Provide NPH business systems, Microsoft Office/Windows and Mac assistance to users

Set-up and maintain PC, Mac and other equipment including:

• PC and Mac computers
• Network/Individual printers
• Copier – order supplies and request maintenance when needed
• Toner – replace and maintain inventory records

Maintain IT equipment-listing database and recommend replacement and disposal of equipment

Perform PC and Mac preventative maintenance and updates to all IT equipment

Manage and perform software installation and updates to meet software needs of users

Provide subscription/periodical management system support:

• With other IT staff, maintain periodical management system
• Train and assist users with periodical management system questions and issues
• Provide backup for periodical management system data requests

Create and maintain sales reports using NPH business systems and Excel

Create and maintain Access databases

Bi-annually review and update PC and Mac user’s access to systems, roles, programs and other IT functions assuring that:

• Proper controls and segregation of duties are in place as they relate to IT needs
• Employees have access to proper IT systems and roles to carry out their jobs efficiently

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES – Systems Security

• Monitor daily backups
• WSUS – review updates available and distribute on the second Thursday of every month
• Perform security updates on Macs when needed
• Vipre Endpoint Security – review and maintain policies, patches and quarantined threats

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES – Network Administration and Other

Assist with network administration including:

• Responsible for installing software patches and updates on all servers
• Maintain switches and access points
• Identify and log security concerns and provide viable solutions
• Manage software licenses and hardware maintenance renewals

Perform phone system maintenance and administration

Support continuous improvement at NPH by training employees on IT infrastructure and proactively identify areas for improvement

Complete other projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Information Technology

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

In the course of completing the above specific responsibilities, interaction with all NPH departments will be required. As such, this position requires professionalism and courtesy extended to all employees. An interest in personal and professional growth by attending seminars, reading professional periodicals, articles, and books will also be necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

• ERP or SaaS ERP system experience (NetSuite ERP experience a plus)
• Network administration
• Word and Excel skills (Access experience a plus)
• Experience with or willingness to learn, Visual Basic and Crystal Reports
• Detail oriented and well organized
• Able to handle shifting priorities
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
