Position Description

Position Title: Financial Underwriter

Department: Financial Services

Reports to: Senior Financial Underwriter Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Financial Underwriter is primarily responsible for award underwriting and to provide financial assistance for business and community development. This position is a key business member of a project team, participates in project development, disseminates project information and is an active participant in project-related work groups and committees. The Financial Underwriter provides technical support to and underwriting of all WEDC financial offerings.

This position supports WEDC’s mission by assisting in deploying financial resources to invest in Wisconsin, enhance its assets and opportunities, and to address underinvestment and distress.

Responsibilities

The Financial Underwriter will spend a majority of their time in these activities:

• Responsible for evaluating the eligibility of applicants. Verifying the applicant’s information which includes financial statement analysis and review.
• Underwrite risk and eligibility in accordance with program, statutory, audit and compliance requirements.
• Deliver training as and when necessary for staff
• Accurately enter data into systems to maintain electronic records for auditing and regulatory purposes
• Proactively participates in projects, program development, strategic planning, or other initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness or efficiency of the department.
• Undertake tasks as requested by the Senior Director to achieve team, division, and organizational objectives.
• Develop and maintain cross-divisional relationships within the organization at all relevant levels
• Participate in training and professional development to further enhance individual and team performance, apply knowledge, and build skill sets
• Represent WEDC at public relations events, conferences, and meetings
• Other duties as assigned.
