Position Description

Position Title: Events Manager

Department: Marketing and Brand Strategy

Reports to: Events Director

Position(s) Supervised: N/A

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Events Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and promoting successful events and meetings that reinforce and increase visibility for WEDC programs and initiatives as well as the State of Wisconsin. This includes, but is not limited to, taking the lead in determining event ROI, budget management, contracting, and facilitating with both internal and external stakeholders. The position will be the main event manager for 3-4 events a year, both in-state and internationally. Additionally, this position will take the lead in taking customer calls, vendor/venue research (both domestic and international) and managing marketing production projects in relation to events.

Responsibilities

The Events Manager will spend a majority of their time in these activities:

  • Independently lead, plan and manage events as necessary, including participation in and management of international trade ventures, and management of WEDC events with more than 250 attendees.
  • Event lead for Main Street Awards Program and online webinars. Collaborate with events team on annual MARKTEPLACE Wisconsin event.
  • Work effectively with other teams and departments in identifying and evaluating event objectives and logistics.
  • Propose and manage event budgets including bill reconciliation and reporting.
  • Lead sponsorship research of event vendors and locations, etc., for both domestic and international arenas.
  • Collaborate and maintain online registration system with Senior Events and Administrative Coordinator, as well as evaluation tools and post event summary reports for WEDC-hosted events and non-hosted events.
  • Identify and leverage marketing tactics and resources necessary to achieve WEDC-targeted campaign goals in tandem with senior marketing management staff.
  • Ensure that WEDC maximizes the benefits offered in sponsorships.
  • Successfully manage partner and vendor relationships including but not limited to exhibit services, show decorators, industry show management and external trade show project team members/partners.
  • Create and manage individual project timelines to ensure properties are meeting goals.
  • Produce follow-up reports and recommendations from each project.
  • Research, identify and deploy industry best practice solutions to ensure meeting and event effectiveness, particularly in relationship to the Wisconsin meeting and event industry/network.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
