Wisconsin Department of Health Services is Hiring an Income Maintenance Specialist Near Madison, WI

Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Medicaid Services (DMS), is recruiting for an Income Maintenance (IM) Specialist in the Bureau of Eligibility, Operation and Training (BEOT).

This position has the ability to work remotely up to 5 days per week and is headquartered in the 1 W. Wilson Street office in downtown Madison. The position will be required to report to work in the office every few months based on training and/or operational need.

Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Position Summary

Within the Eligibility Management Central Application Processing Operation (EM CAPO) Section, the IM Specialist performs case management duties, processes health care applications and determines eligibility for applicants/members of SeniorCare, Department of Corrections BadgerCare Plus & Medicaid, Out of State Benefit Inquiry, Foster Care Medicaid, Newborn Adds, Low Income Subsidy, Tower Automotive, and other IM programs.

As an IM Specialist in the EM CAPO Section, you must competently assess a range of factors in developing and maintaining application processing and case management skills for the EM CAPO programs and IM program applicants and members, including communication skills and confidentiality. You will make case decisions that involve difficult, complex and sensitive choices for program participants.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $25.00 and $29.50 per hour (approximately between $52,000 and $61,300 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 12/64.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

For positions that do allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Employees must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee’s headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience working in a customer service role, including tasks such as responding to written and verbal inquiries, maintaining records of customer contacts, and communicating policies and procedures to others.
  • Experience working with EM CAPO programs or other IM programs such as BadgerCare Plus, FoodShare, etc.
  • Experience using database systems such as CARES Worker Web, eWiSACWIS, ACCESS, Excel spreadsheets, etc.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience processing and determining eligibility for IM programs such SeniorCare, Wisconsin Well Woman Medicaid, Department of Correction BC and Medicaid, Foster Care Medicaid, Out-of-State Benefit Inquiry, Newborn Adds, Low Income Subsidy, other IM programs, etc.
  • Experience administering case files, including tasks such as maintaining confidentiality, following policies and procedures, and requesting additional information in order to determine a decision on a case’s outcome.
  • Experience working with IM computer programs such as CARES Worker Web, Mainframe/Virtel, ForwardHealth interChage, SAVE, RADAR, Electronic Case File, and other systems/applications.
  • Experience working with federal or state policies.
