If you are an experienced Operations professional with a desire to exceed customer expectations, Odyssey Group invites you to apply for their General Manager position. Based in Burr Ridge, IL the Odyssey Group, LLC is a provider of rental equipment for construction sites as well as public events. The current product line includes barricade rental, temporary fence rental, port-a-potty rental, dumpster rental, and storage container rental. Odyssey Group LLC is a one call solution for all their customer’s needs.
This position reports directly to the Owner, providing strategic transformational leadership, overseeing the daily operations, ensuring business efficiency and productivity, as well as compliance with Odyssey Group policy and procedures and all regulatory requirements.
This position leads, directs and manages the customer facing team and works closely with the owner to foster a culture of teamwork, accountability and excellence.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement operations strategies and plans to meet organizational goal as well as future business growth.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and compliance with Odyssey Group policy and procedures.
  • Seeks to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise staff, including setting performance expectations and conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, and excellence among the team.
  • Lead or oversee special projects as assigned.
  • Manage budgets, allocations of resources, and optimization of operations costs for each division.
  • Monitor financial performance and implementation of cost-saving measures for each division.
  • Managing the company’s IT systems with the implementation of policies and procedures can streamline sales.
  • Continue to build and personally uphold the company’s image and brand.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Create, implement, and manage a companywide safety plan, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develop new solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reporting to ownership.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in operations management, with a minimum of 10 years’ operations experience with 5 years of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong transformational leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem solving and independent decision making.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal expertise
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and technology.
  • Knowledge of industry best practice and regulatory requirements (DOT, OSHA, Safety)
  • Strong budgeting and cash flow experience meeting projected targets (ie, payables, receivables, contribution margin, etc.)
