SUMMARY:

Retail Sales Associate responsibilities include greeting customers, answering questions, offering assistance, suggesting items, providing product information, demonstrating outstanding customer service and selling skills, maintaining merchandise inventory, addressing customer complaints, assisting in the display of merchandise, and organizing the selling floor and stock areas. Responsible for processing payments, including totaling purchases, operating cash registers, and processing checks, cash, and credit cards. Must also handle customer refunds courteously and professionally, maintain a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm, and develop product knowledge by reading current vendor tags and attending training classes. Stay up to date with promotional events and sales. Assists the Branch Manager in overseeing and managing administrative and operational duties related to branch operations. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 2 years in the industrial industry with some knowledge of products sold.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to gather information and make decisions.
• Prioritizing, time management, and organizational skills.
• Relationship management skills. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Assist the Branch Manager with the following branch activities: counter sales, pulling, packing, and preparing orders for outside sales personnel, daily administration of store operations, including opening and closing, and managing work and employee schedules.
• Welcoming and engaging with customers as they enter the store.
• Assessing customers’ needs and suggesting solutions to their problems.
• Working with cash registers and processing payments.
• Setting and attaining sales goals.
• Giving customers advice about sales and promotions.
• Using upselling techniques to increase store sales.
• Recommending the best products to customers.
• Cleaning and restocking the store throughout the day, before opening and after closing.

OTHER DUTIES:

• Other duties as assigned by Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must efficiently use a personal computer with a standard keyboard and mouse.
• Ability to communicate in English to locate, read and report information.
• Regularly sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Lift, lower, and carry products up to 50 lbs.
• Warehouse environment – work in hot/cold temperatures through the seasons.
