Position Description: Elementary Level Teacher

Winter Garden Christian Academy is a new Christian School opening in August, 2024. The school’s focus is a Biblical Worldview Education, understanding the fact that all truth is based on the Word of God. We will provide a trust-based, Christ centered, safe environment where students and parents can encounter the love of God. We will partner with parents to achieve the greatest levels of educational excellence.

Position Responsibilities:

The Elementary Level Teacher will teach a class of Elementary Age Students, utilizing Bob Jones University Press Curriculum. Estimated class size will be 16 students.

1. Teach and nurture a class of elementary age school students. Help students learn applicable curriculum material, to grow in their knowledge of Christ and Christian character. Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their Christian faith.

2. Prepare lessons utilizing Bob Jones University Press Curriculum. Strive for excellence in all aspects of education and the classroom environment. Lessons will include basic use of technology as well.

3. Maintain a positive, nurturing and orderly Christ-honoring environment in your classroom. Recognize student’s individual scholastic accomplishments and behavior that reflects Christian character traits. Handle poor behavior in a Christ like manner, helping students learn to do better.

4. Build and maintain a positive relationship with the parents of students in your class. Communicate with them on a regular basis to provide information on their child’s progress, to learn important updates on their child, and to update them on our school and school activities.

5. Handle all administrative duties of the teaching position in a timely manner and with excellence (daily attendance, report cards, actively participating in teacher meetings, internal and external communication, etc.)

6. Model Christ’s love and Christian values in interactions with students, parents, colleagues and in the community. Exhibit and maintain a professional approach at all times.

7. Actively support and enhance the culture of Winter Garden Christian Academy. Promote unity and harmony within the school.

8. Support school programs and initiatives in words, presence and actions.

9. Fulfill needs and initiatives for the school as requested by the School Administrator.

Qualifications:

1. Have received Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, with a relationship with Him and leading a life that reflects a Christian lifestyle in all areas of life.

2. An active member of a conservative Christian church.

3. A Bachelor of Science Degree, or Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education

4. Model Christian behavior in word, action and life-style

5. Support WGCA’s statement of faith and Christian values

6. A working knowledge of basic technology, and comfort utilizing those in the classroom

7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Winter Garden Christian Academy offers teachers a competitive salary and benefits, a positive, supportive environment, a lunch break without responsibility for students and time for class preparation during the school day. School hours are 8:15am to 3:00pm Monday – Thursday, with the last hour of the day being “Enrichment Programs”, led by someone outside of the classroom. Friday hours are 8:15am – 12 noon. Friday from 12 noon to 1:00pm is reserved for parent meetings, as needed.

Winter Garden Christian Academy is a ministry of Faith Family Community Church in Winter Garden, Florida. The mission of the school is to partner with parents as they raise their children to encounter, grow and live out their Christian faith by providing a high-quality education encompassing a Biblical worldview, authentic worship, student discipleship and real-world Christ-like application.
