FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to assist with clerical support functions in school library media center and school-wide standardized test administration activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Processes and catalogs books, equipment, and audiovisual materials, assists with budget information, enters data into the automated library system, places security strips in books, maintains online catalog.
• Maintains media center collection (filing and shelving library resources), performs circulation duties for materials in the media center, provides information on locations of requested materials, inventories collection on a periodic schedule.
• Assists media coordinator with instruction, both large and small group. May serve as substitute for media coordinator.
• Assists with facilitation of testing administration within a secure testing environment following the testing code of ethics.
• Prepares for testing by recording receipt of materials, counting, and verifying testing materials, preparing testing materials for each test administrator including scratch paper, pencils, calculators, etc.
• Submits testing materials for scoring.
• Assists with maintenance of up-to-date records on all testing material and students, in both manual and electronic format.
• Supports the integrity of testing by ensuring proper handling of testing materials.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Working knowledge of library procedures and education practices.
• Working knowledge of basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and library software.
• Ability to process work, forms, and materials involving numbers with a high degree of accuracy.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations regarding the administration of standardized tests in NC public schools.
• Knowledge of proper conditions, practices and procedures for testing in the district.
• Knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state, and local laws, rules & regulations.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people and to be flexible in accepting a variety of job assignments.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum: Two years (48 semester hours) of college credit and one year work experience in a clerical position.
• Desirable: Bachelor’s Degree and one year work experience in library work or education.
Pay Grade 58 Part-Time 10 Months Minimum Monthly Salary $1,300
