Essential Function: Conduct office behavior referrals for students, providing behavior intervention support for classrooms. This position reports directly to the Assistant Principal or designee.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in psychology, education, speech, or related field preferred. LBS1 endorsement preferred but not required.
2. Certification: ISBE Substitute Certificate.
3. Special Knowledge/ Skills:
a. Excellent communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
b. Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
c. Decision quality: makes good, timely decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
d. Excellent rational detachment skills.
e. An understanding of the behavior program and ability to articulate to others.
4. Experience:
. Experience in educating and behavior intervention for children diagnosed with ASD or related disorders preferred.
Responsibilities and duties include (but are not limited to):
1. Learn and implement the Zones system in the office to maintain consistency.
2. Provide feedback on the behavior program to staff when needed.
3. Be an integral, dynamic member of the team of professionals.
4. Follow all school policies, procedures, and regulations.
5. Entering data and tracking interventions used for each student.
6. Be certified in Nonviolent Crisis Management (CPI).
7. Project a positive, professional image by openly communicating, problem-solving and disseminating information, and being responsive to the needs of students, families, colleagues, and senior staff.
8. Strive to improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional growth and development activities by utilizing information and insights gained in professional efforts for self-improvement.
9. Document and maintain availability to students in need of Nonviolent Crisis Management (CPI) or other behavioral interventions.
10. Maintain availability to staff in need of support, assistance, and consultation.
11. Develop and maintain an awareness of intellectual functioning, cognitive processing, educational achievement, adaptive behavior, social/emotional development, behavioral assessment, determination of learning processes and assessment of the student’s most conducive learning environment.
12. Promptly and accurately submit all required paperwork and documents.
13. Participate in all staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
14. Perform any other duties as requested by school leadership.
