Winnebago County Sheriff Office is Hiring a Corrections Officer Near Oshkosh, WI

  • Hires may be eligible for a $2,000 signing bonus for in-state hires, or a $4,000 signing bonus for out-of-state hires.
  • Lateral transfer credit for relevant prior experience.
  • Enrollment in the Wisconsin Retirement System with Protective Status, without additional buy-in.
  • 4 days on, 5 days off, 12 hour schedule.
  • Employee Wellness program.
  • Must possess a minimum of 60 college credits, some college credits with the ability to obtain 60 college credits within five years of hire, or have a minimum of three years experience working as a Correctional Officer or similar position working with a state entity.
  • Maintain the safety and security of the Winnebago County Jail and enforce jail policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain the security of all jail areas by making timely security rounds, head counts, and systematic checks.
  • Respond to inmate medical emergencies or refer general inmate sick calls to the Health Services Unit.
  • Perform duties regarding booking and releasing of inmates.
  • Monitor jail and inmate activities through direct observation or visual and audio devices.
  • Supervise all inmates housing, care, and custody activities to include daily cleaning.
  • Facilitate inmate hygiene needs through the issuance of clean laundry, bedding, and required personal hygiene items.
