Reports To: Director of Environmental Services/Housekeeping Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housekeeping Aide ensures that the facility is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition at all times to provide for care and welfare of the residents in a healthful environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Follows specific cleaning and service procedures as outlined by the director or supervisor.
2. Gives his/her assigned unit the attention needed to provide a sanitary, odor free, orderly environment.
3. Checks inventories and notifies supervisor of supply needs.
4. Maintains equipment in good working condition and return it to proper location after use.
5. Assists with room changes, as needed.

OTHER DUTIES:

1. Interacts with residents, families, visitors, facility and corporate staff.
2. Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
3. May be required to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, additional hours, and in different positions as the facility's needs require.
4. Must practice good personal hygiene and follow the dress code requirements.
5. Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A minimum of a high school education or high school equivalency diploma is preferred for this position. High school students with work permit.
2. Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
3. Previous Housekeeping experience a plus

PHYSICAL INVOLVEMENT:

This work requires a combination of sitting, walking, and standing. Frequent use of both upper and lower extremities necessary for ambulation, equilibrium, and carrying objects. Frequent use of arms, hands and fingers. Intact visual, auditory, and verbal capabilities essential. Must be able to assist in evacuation of residents during emergencies. Lifts, pushes, pulls and moves using proper body mechanics.

MENTAL INVOLVEMENT:

The ability to utilize language skills to comprehend spoken and written words effectively. Adaptable to multiple and changing priorities and frequent interruptions. Able to maintain composure and to interact positively dealing with residents, staff, visitors and government representatives. Ability to function independently.

Sign on bonus agreement of $500 for full time employment.

This is payable in the pay period following the completion of the 90-day probationary period of employment. To be eligible for the bonus the employee must comply with tardiness and attendance policy. The bonus will be forfeited in the event you have any disciplinary actions, or if you fail to meet the full-time requirements. In the event you voluntarily resign or are terminated you will no longer be eligible for the $400 sign-on bonus.
