Modern campus of senior services in historic Columbus, Miss.

Paying 80% Employee Coverage of the $1000 Deductible Plan

STAFF DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR - RN

JOB SUMMARY: reports to the Director of Nursing and/or Assistance Director of Nursing responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating an organized program for staff education directed toward professional excellence and regulation compliance. Serves as the primary contact person for Nursing, Professional and Supportive Services staff education. Establishes professional education resources and instructional leadership for outreach programs directed to healthcare professionals.

RESPONSIBILITES:

1. Provide leadership in assessing learning/resource needs and establishing directional goals that are compatible with services teaching and research objectives for staff development.

2. Confer with department supervisors and resource personnel using indicators such as new policy development, new technology, resident case study and quality assurance monitors to prioritize staff development needs.

3. Function as a liaison with community health professionals to promote professional education programs and services at The Windsor Place.

4. Make inservice calendar for each year, present inservices for facility personnel and perform skills check-offs per facility policy.

5. Make certain that all nursing personnel have the 5 inservices from hire date to anniversary date as required by state.

6. Log in all inservices on employee individual sheets to be kept in the Inservices Book.

7. Orientation with all new employees including the 5 requires inservices and complete specific orientation with all nursing personnel.

8. Administer all employee TB skin tests, flu shots, and hepatitis vaccinations and maintain record per facility policy.

9. Maintain license records for all nursing personnel including copies of nursing personnel visiting through the contracted hospice services.

10. Obtain and update 5 year TB certification.

11. Operate audio visual equipment.

12. Maintain records of quarterly Safety Committee meetings.

13. Perform random infection controls audits and inservice/oversee corrections to insure compliance with current policies and procedures as well as federal and state regulations.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Must have good physical and mental health sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position.

2. Must be able to be mobile throughout the shift.

3. Must be able to lift, move and /or transfer residents as needed.

4. Must be able to bed, stoop, stretch, and turn.

5. Must have visual and aural acuity sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position.

SPECIAL DEMANDS:

1. Must have a sincere desire to work geriatric residents.

2. Must be interested in and have the ability to teach and assist others to improve their nursing skills.
