SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Community General Laborer is responsible for assisting the Lead Maintenance Technician and the Lead Irrigation Technician. Performance will include repairs and maintenance of basic electrical, plumbing, irrigation, painting, and light carpentry.

Knowledge of the proper and safe use of all basic tools, equipment, materials, chemicals, and products related to the department.

• Perform various repairs on minor electrical.
• Repair irrigation including digging for main lines and replacement heads.
• Perform general maintenance on stucco exterior walls with painting.
• Perform general repairs on ceramic tile and minor flooring repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance assignments.
• Assist various projects and tasks assigned.
• Perform routine zone inspections and repairs as needed.
• Perform routine painting and non-routine painting projects throughout the Community common grounds and facilities.
• On call for after-hour emergencies as scheduled as well as on-call for Hurricane Preparation Plan.
• Perform minor landscape improvements including plantings, removals, and grounds maintenance.

• May require adjusted work schedules to meet deadlines in coverage areas.
• Regular attendance and timeliness are required in all coverage areas.
• Schedules to include holiday and weekends and the ability to change as needed to meet community needs and requirements for a minimum of eight hours per shift.

Must have the ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions with exposure to extremes of heat and cold, dirt, water, heights, confined spaces, potential electrical and other hazards. May be exposed to human body fluids. Must be physically present.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3-5 years of general labor experience.
