Windham Southwest Supervisory Union is Hiring a Physical Education Teacher (PT/FT) Near Readsboro, VT

Physical Education Teacher2 half days per week at Readsboro Central School; could be combined with Stamford School (2 days) and Halifax Schools (2 days) for full-time opportunityReadsboro Central School, serving the students & families of Readsboro, Vermont, is seeking an energetic, motivational, inspirational, and multi-talented superhero to serve as Physical Education Teacher (2 half days per week). The individual in this position plays an integral role in shaping the character education, health education and athletic education sensibility of our school community.Our small school is located near the Massachusetts border about 30 minutes from North Adams, Massachusetts and about 30 minutes from Bennington, Vermont, and has 4 classrooms (preK/Kindergarten, grades 1 & 2, grades 3 & 4, grades 5 & 6) of 8-12 students per class. We have a total enrollment of 39 students preK-6th grade.The PE teacher teaches physical education classes to K-6 students twice/week. The successful candidate will have experience working with students of varied ages who come from a wide range of experiences and backgrounds, and who possess diverse strengths and challenges.
The ideal candidate will bring a progressive, student-centered approach to physical education designed to enable every single student to grow and succeed. The ideal candidate will possess good communication and collaboration skills, the ability to remain flexible and pivot direction and duties as needed, and the ability to establish a positive rapport with students, staff and families alike.Essential Functions: - Develop and assess an integrated curriculum for K-8 Physical Education based on Vermont State Standards.- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other content area specialists to integrate content across areas- Promote a supportive learning environment in which each student has a positive, nurturing relationship with adults and feel encouraged, included and respected- Treat students as individuals by getting to know students as athletes, as learners, and as people, and maintaining high expectations for each student through individual goal-setting and by appreciating differences and valuing contributions.- Model and motivate students to develop healthy active lifestyles.Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply: - Hold or be eligible to hold a VT educator license with a PreK-6 or PK-12 physical education endorsement.- Strong health and physical fitness background- Knowledge of MTSS and PBiS and experience working in schools that have implemented these system approaches is desirableDeadline: The application screening process will begin immediately & continue until the position is filled.Criminal Background & Child Abuse/Neglect Registry Checks required.Equal Opportunity Employer.
