Job Summary: The school nurse is responsible for providing healthcare services to students and staff within the school setting. This includes assessing and treating students' health concerns, administering medications, maintaining health records, and promoting health education and wellness programs.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct health assessments and screenings for students and staff.
2. Provide first aid and emergency care as needed.
3. Administer medications and treatments according to physician's orders and school policies.
4. Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students.
5. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with chronic conditions.
6. Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics and promote healthy lifestyle choices.
7. Monitor immunization compliance and coordinate with local health departments as needed.
8. Participate in school safety and emergency preparedness activities.
9. Stay current with healthcare trends, policies, and best practices in school nursing.
10. Maintain a safe and clean healthcare environment within the school clinic.
11. Instruction of health class. 

Qualifications:

1. Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Vermont
2. An Associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is preferred.
3. Experience working in pediatric or school nursing settings is desirable.
4. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
6. Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to school health services.
7. CPR and first aid certification.

Working Conditions: The school nurse typically works during school hours, with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for school events or emergencies. The work environment may include a school clinic or office setting, with exposure to common illnesses and infectious diseases.
